Fungal Roots is a family operated urban mushroom farm located in Menomonie, WI. We serve the community with healthy, fresh, nutritious gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. Our mushrooms are cultivated with LOVE!

Our Family

Russell and Sara Bahr have 3 sons Ashten (23), Ayden (16), and Graysen (11). We also have two golden retreivers Bentley and Barron. We enjoy being outdoors, hiking, camping, fishing, wakeboarding, and during the winter the boys play hockey.

How it all Started

Owners Sara & Russell Bahr were on our own health journeys beginning in 2022. When Russell was talking to his older brother Torrey about hiking and foraging mushrooms, they discussed the health benefits that come from fresh mushrooms. Russell decided to dig deeper into the world of mycology and growing his own mushrooms. He was instantly hooked! After learning to grow oyster mushrooms and Lion’s Mane on a small scale we decided to scale the operation up. In 2023 we started our urban mushroom farm and began providing the wonderful gourmet and medicinal mushrooms we cultivate to the public. Our goal is to help people eat better, feel better and have access to these healthy options all year round. The gourmet mushrooms are a tasty treat every mushroom lover should enjoy!
